What we believe

At the heart of what we believe is the good news about who Jesus is and what He has done for us.

Whatever your beliefs, we love to welcome visitors who want to know more about what Christians believe. If you want to find out more about what Christians believe, see our Exploring Christianity page. Below is a summary of our core beliefs:

We are a Christian Church

We believe just what Christians have always believed. We believe in God who is Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God has revealed himself fully in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose again. We believe that by faith in Jesus Christ we can be forgiven and our relationship with God can be right again. We believe that the Holy Spirit gives us new life and helps us to live for God.

We are an Evangelical Church

We believe in the supreme authority of the Bible as God’s Word to us. With the help of the Holy Spirit we meet God in His Word and get to know Him and what He wants for us.

We are an Anglican Church

We are part of the Church of England and we hold to the foundations laid out in the 39 Articles and the various ancient Christian Creeds, including the Apostles’ Creed. Our church family is made up of people from many different church backgrounds and none, and we unite under Christ, not under one particular denominational banner.
